Sad News for Anastasiya

Today the Ukrainian government had a press conference with Yuri Pavlenko, Minister Ministry of Family, Youth & Sports CHILDREN AVAILABLE The adoption database contains 20,000 children who are available for international adoption at this time (16% of these children are of younger age and completely healthy), at least 6,520 more children are going to become available for international adoption within next year. EXISTING CASES (registered dossiers) 1,200 dossiers are registered and waiting to be matched with children (from this number 385 are families from the USA). Some of these cases were registered as early as the year 2003 and for some mysterious reason were not processed and are expired. It is unknown if all of these applicants are still interested in adoption and as such it creates confusion as to what is the actual number of waiting families. In any case, the Department will process all registered applicants by the end of 2006. To keep the registration, the registered applicants must confirm the interest to adopt, regardless of their dossier status (expired or not). They have to fill, sign and submit the ¡§Application¡¨ form All the interviews will be assigned strictly* in the sequence of registration numbers. The lists will be continuously posted on the wall at the Department office. the estimate of how many cases are planed to be processed during each month, although the guideline is tentative and will depend on the amount of submitted confirmations for intent to adopt. September: Registration # 9,000 to #14,310 October: # 14,311 to #14,800 ƒx The exemption in the order of assigned interviews will be given only for families who know the children they adopt. NEW APPLICATIONS New dossiers can be submitted and will be registered with SDA from January, 2007. It will take 20 days for review from the date of submission/Registration/, and the approval with registration# or rejection with remarks will be sent directly to the applicants by mail. The interviews will be assigned strictly* in the sequence of registration numbers. There will be no change in adoption procedures or proceedings in general. Our paperwork falls in with the New Application so we are looking at them accepting our dossier in January. Unfortunately, parts of our dossier will be expired in January so we will have to redo parts of our dossier. We are very sad and disappointed. We are trying to keep a positive additude but it seems almost impossible not to feel helpless. We love Anastasiya and would love her to be a part of our family but January 2007 seems an eternity away. Pray for us to have the mental strengh to carry on our journey.
